Are Your Eyes too Pure to Behold Evil?

A great Prophet once asked this question: Your eyes are too PURE to approve evil, and you cannot look on wickedness with favor. Why do you look with favor on those who deal treacherously? Why are you silent when the wicked swallow up those more righteous than they? Hab. 1:13.
I used to also ask that same question a long time ago but one day a wave of awareness came over me and this scripture passage flashed before my eyes:
I said, “You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High. Nevertheless you will die like men and fall like any one of the princes.
And after that, Shakespeare’s words rang in my ears:
All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts!
Yes, each one of us, on this journey of life, plays many parts. For me, I no longer bother myself about the behavior of another individual but have come to realize that life is all about opposites. Just as there cannot be an east without a west, I cannot be aware that I am awake if there is none that is asleep. I cannot perceive that I have understanding if the ignorant one does not exhibit his ignorance.
The Drama of Life
We all are creatures of “choices”! So what is our role in all this drama of life? I have found that my part is to “leave everyone I meet both physically and in my silent period – mind’s eye – imagination, when no one else is aware of what I am doing, with an IMPRESSION of INCREASE”. To make a conscious effort, which might not be easy, not to behold the state of weakness exhibited by an individual but to lift the other up by beholding the true being that is breathing that person.
Because I AM the one feeling the state that I am contemplating; I set myself up to attract the good that I am wishing for the other person. Meanwhile, if the other person is in the right mindset the good thought will be awakened in the other. If not, then what I wish the other will return back on to me pressed down, shaken together and running over. Luke 10:5-6 says:
Whatever house you enter, begin by saying, ‘Peace to this house.’ If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you.
For me, this passage is not only about when you go to a place physically; the very fact that you are having a dialogue with another in your mind you have already entered that person’s space. This is an infallible principle of life that keeps our world working with order and precision. Just like the boomerang – What goes around comes around!
Now over to you, my friend, what are you holding in your hand “HEART”. Your mental reaction about another person. Is it pure and holy? Would you wish it for yourself? If not, drop it! For as William Shakespeare said:
The fragrance of the rose lingers on the hand that casts it.
Every day of our life we should meditate on beauty, love and peace.
To your Purity!
