Cause and Effect

One of the greatest futility is in trying to change an effect without a corresponding change in the state of being of a person. What do I mean by this, take for example someone who is struggling to put food on the table thinks the answer is to work extra hours; he puts in those extra hours but at the end, does not make ends meet. Newer bills show up to gulped the extra earnings and the vicious cycle continues.

Cause and Effect
Cause and Effect

All the while, deep in the soul of this individual, is the thought process of lack and struggle. The image or pattern embedded in the subconscious mind, through lack of awareness, is rooted in scarcity. This is the cause and without a change in the cause trying to change the effect on the outside becomes a futile and frustrating process!

Solution

So what is the solution; Louise Berlay, in The Magic of the Mind, puts it nicely as follows:

Any undesirable condition is a signal that we are sustaining it by the mental habits from which it derives its energy. Unless we change the cause, the effect will continue.

Please do not try forcefully to stop a habit, for attention energizes its object. This creates a stressful conflict as force is met with resistance. We should neither resist nor pursue; rather, quietly and happily accept the ideal condition and proceed normally from there.

If you are not already doing so, you will find it growth-promoting to observe others, their positions, conditions and speech habits. You will come to recognize the cause in the effect. You will see people as self-programmed states of “consciousness in action.” This is not judgmental, but discerning. Discernment makes no judgment of the person, but perceives the circumstances as that of subjective conditioning.

Take Action

So, the objective out picturing is only a reflection of subjective conditioning. Once the subjective conditioning is supplanted with new thoughts of abundance, prosperity and well being, it causes an inner shift to occur. Over time, this is reflected in a better paying job or income that meets an immediate need and a left over for charity. This does not happen overnight but must be done with persistent based on understanding and awareness that comes through STUDY.

To your abundant life!
